Hey everyone, I have found two covers of the same song. "What's This?" , my favorite musical number from The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Now, the first cover I heard by Flyleaf, while I don't hate it, and I understand they wanted to sort of make the song their own, but for crying out loud, they couldn't possibly have made it feel more like a completely different song, ripping the happiness and fast pace to utter shreds and made it depressing sounding. It's more like "huh...whats this?" then "OH LOOK! WHATS THIS? ;D". It's sort of disheartening to hear such a happy, upbeat song played like Jack's about to cut himself with a candy cane.
Now the Fallout Boy version is awesome. They completely managed to capture the orignal song. The vocals are awesome, and they made my absolute favorite line in the movie "Theres children throwing snowballs instead of throwing heads, their busy building toys and absolutely no ones dead!" sound seriously epic. I love it.
Also, I head several different versions of Soramimi Cake, the theme song of (supprise supprise) Azumanga Daioh. An orchestrated version, which is so epic that it made me giggle like an idiot, the "soft version" which makes me want to fall asleep cause of how boring it is, not to mention it sounds like something they'd use for an "Azumanga Babies" spinoff, and then theres the Techno Remix, which is just terrible, it's just the original, sped up with this ridiculous beat over it, and using the f*cking cooking song as a bridge. And don't get me started on the soft version of "Raspberry Heaven". Next time redo the ENTIRE SONG. NOT JUST THE LAST f*ckING LINE.
