Leo almost collapsed in the realization that they were going to be okay - for now. Who knows what they would do for screwing with the order of the acts.
He took his place by his brother's side, just glad that everything was running a little more smoothly now. "I dunno..." he muttered, shrugging. "Uh...maybe Ray'll be good to do our act next...But...she was really freaking out..." He bit his lip. How would they continue the show without Ray?
Belle breathed out as she kept her eyes glued to the twins, flipping around up on the trapeze. Thank god for their act. What would they have done without it?
She looked down at the others, finding that she didn't have to draw light away from them anymore, as the shield had disappeared. She was thankful for that, and watched them, the brothers and the oldest of the group. She hoped Ray was okay - she seemed distressed.
She watched Ray. There was no way she would be able to perform - and she was basically in all the acts.
There was no choice. She needed some time to collect herself.
She'd get them to intermission after this. It was a little early, but the long break and confusion would necessitate it.

Bernard pulled his hand up to his face and scratched at his tattoos. He watched the twins perform, finding it an easy way to avoid the awkward situation that was unfolding. He hoped that Belle, Dom and Leslie had figured out what was going on next, because he hadn't a clue and obviously his brother didn't either. Anjok pulled Ray to her feet, sliding his arm around her waist to "support her." In his mind, he already knew that he was taking advantage of the situation to get in some time with her. He loved the feel of her hips. "You gonna be ok?" he asked, a bit of concern in his voice.

"You gunna be OK?" Anjok asked her that question all the time, and every other time she would have answered 'Yes' but not now; now, she wasn't sure about anything anymore. So she shook her head. "I-I don't think so."
Leslie swept her brothers feet out from under him, and the lights went out. they came back on, there her brother was, laying on the ground, looking like he was dead. She swung down and walked over to him, her 'pray' she turned away from him, and toward the crowd, and she roared, or a recording of Bernard roaring played. Suddenly her her brother lept up, and tackled her to the ground, once again, the lights went out, and when they came back on, she was the one on the ground, 'dead'. Her brother was the victor, and the crowd went wild. 'Alright Belle, we did our part, its up to you' she thought.

Belle took a deep breath. The act was over, Dom the "victor". She stole a glance at the duo in the corner. No, Ray wasn't ready - she doubt she would be even after the half-hour intermission. In fact, she couldn't imagine Ray being ready even for tomorrow's show.
She took a breath and flashed the lights majestically toward herself, speaking into the microphone.
"Thank you, and I sincerely hope you have enjoyed this first half of our circus..." She allowed the crowd to roar in response. God, how could what she say affect a crowd so much? It was rattling. "But I'm afraid that we need to allow our performers a bit of a break..." she continued. "Thank you for coming to this magnificent circus, and please enjoy our refreshments and entertainment outside of the tent -" People were beginning to get up and mull about now. "We will be back and ready to continue our show in a half an hour, so please, stay around! And I hope you have enjoyed this much of our show!"
She flashed the lights down.
Began to shake with the idea that she never wanted to get up in front of people again.
And then immediately made her way over to Ray. The lights were beginning to come on, warning that they needed to get out. Belle dulled the lights around them, darkening only the floor of the circus so that no one would see them, warping the colors to make them blend in.

Anjok looked around in the darkness, finding it hard to see, but glad that Belle and the twins had done such a great job of improvising. "Thanks guys," he directed at them. He turned, standing in front of Raychel, and gently wiped her tears from her eyes. He couldn't stand to see her upset. Especially since he was used to her being so strong. "Maybe we should all get some air," he suggested, hoping that it would help calm Raychel down a bit. Bernard spoke up, "Yeah.... It's f*ckin' hot in here! Who controls the air conditioning in this place anyway?!" Anjok simply blinked at Bernard. He always seemed to say the stupidest things, him and his brother. "I think he might be retarded," Anjok whispered to Raychel, trying to lighten he mood a bit.

"Oh, he is, trust me," Leo agreed, then trotted out through the opening flap. "I would know," he called back. The light hit his face, and blinded him for a second from the darkness he'd just been accustomed to. He exclaimed in surprise. "I think I just went blind..." he muttered.
Belle rolled her eyes and came up beside the distraught Ray. "Anjok, is she okay? What happened?" she said, touching a hand to the rip in her back - she was too distracted by Ray's condition to even notice she was touching scars until she felt the roughness. Then she stopped, blinked, and looked at her back. Belle gasped.
"Ray..."

Raychel's eyes skrewed shut, and tears leaked out of the corners. "I know! I have scars on my back. I have scars all over my f*ckin body ok?" Raychel's eyes shot open, they were entirely diffrent, onstead of their normal kindness and warmth, they were now cold and distant. "Unlike the rest of you, this place is better than what i come from." Raychel spun on her heal, and walked over to her mask picked it up, and put it on, but not before wiping her tears away. Once her Mask was in place, she put on a fake smile, and walked out of the tent, into the clearing where the others were sitting.

Anjok watched her walk out, completely dumbstruck. He had absolutely no idea that she had that much bottled up. He soon realized that his mouth was slightly agape, and clamped his jaw shut. He looked around at the people still within the tent. Bernard put his shirt back on; the bleeding had stopped so it wouldn't show through. The last thing he wanted was for her to see the cut. It wasn't very painful at all, it just looked a lot worse than it was. "I'm gonna go out there with them," he stated and jogged out through the door, blinking in the bright light. "....Sounds like a good idea...." Anjok muttered, and followed Bernard outside.

Belle gazed after Ray, then Anjok, thoroughly disbelieving what her eyes were telling her. What the...?
Scars all over her...?
But then...?
So this was...?
How did the rip...?
What was going on...?
Belle shook her head, holding her head in her hands. Ray never acted like this. So cool, so collected...What caused such an onslaught of confusion?
Leo gaped after Ray as she stalked out of the tent. He felt guilty for having torn the dress and for displaying something that made her explode so completely.
He shook his head. He and Bernard really should just practice their tiger act. That was what was supposed to go up next when this whole thing happened.
Suddenly, something crossed his mind, thinking about when he was in his white tiger form and had looked at his brother. Bernard's gash. He looked back into the tent. "Bernard," he called in, looking stupidly around, spots dancing in his eyes, making him as blind as he was as a bat. "Hey, Bernard, you should have someone look at your chest," he called in.

Leslie walked over to Bernard, "Your brother's right, here, lemme see. I've been bandageing Dom-Dom up for years now."
Raychel Sat down at the farthest end of the court yard. She was worrying everyone, but she didnt have time for that. She had to be ready to fix the show. She had to be ready to take the blame, and the punishments that came with it. She had to be strong, and her emotions kept her from that. So she locked them all away in the cage at the pit of her heart. Ray hadn't needed this cage since her father gave her away to this place, but now she needed it. She couldn't afford letting her emotions run wild, not yet.

Bernard blushed furiously. "Uhm, okay," he stuttered. He imagined that he probably looked similar to a cherry or a tomato in color. He pulled his shirt off, wincing as the fabric pulled across his cut, and tossed it to the side. Meanwhile, Anjok had just stepped outside the tent. He blinked a couple times, willing his eyes to adjust to the bright sun. When he could open his eyes a bit beyond a squint, he shielded his eyes with his hand and shuffled over to Raychel. He sat down in front of her, and crossed his legs so he was sitting Indian-style. At a complete loss for words, he uttered one simple, "creative" and neutral word, "Hi."

"An intermission?!" Chuck repeated to himself in disbelief as he tried to keep the carnies in view between the groups of people walking past, munching on popcorn and holding the hands of little tykes with blinking whirley-toys in their grubby fists, which was hard since he was so short. "They must be trying to get themselves killed..." A static on his walkie-talkie triggered a now- instinctive motion of sliding it out of his holster and raising it to his ear, careful to aviod hitting his lollipopstick
Does anyone know what in God's name they're doing? Can anyone see anything? The fire girl is crying or something and dragging everyone's attention away from the stage! I think Bernard got a cut or something...we might need a nurse. Serves him right! The carnies are running the show like it's theres! We need some order! Somebody get 'em into their friggin cages and show them some sense before the whole thing goes haywire!
From his viewpoint snug between the bleachers he could see blue blurs of security guards beginning to stir in their positions, grabbing keychains and rolling out cages from their hiding places in the shadows. A few began bumping through the ma$$es of people to hop over a fence to cross the circus stage.
"Stupid kids...." Chuck nodded his head muttered to himself before clicking the flashing 'live' button right below his thumb and retrieved his authority voice that sounded deep over the speaker, "Ok, you guys, chill out. Stand your ground. Look at em'; the performers have it under control; they haven't ruined anything yet."
He was met with the immediate responce of: They're gonna think they run the freakin place!
"Then let them, it's their show after all. They know better than to try anything really stupid. Just move to the entrances and exits and keep your hands on your shockers just in case, but let them keep moving things along; their doing a good job. End of story."
He was met with silence after that; they all knew better than to talk back. He watch the blue dots slip toward the doors, spilled his walkie talkie back, and kept watching the carnies and their little show.

"Hey." Raychel responded, not looking at him. Instead, she twirled a strand of her now loose hair. Her voice was no longer small and scared, like before. Nor was it happy and strong like every other day. Now, it was just... stolid. "Whats up?"
Leslie laughed at the color of Bernard's face, but her voice was serious when she spoke. "Look, I know Ray normally talkes care of any injuries we get, but that isn't happening. And its not like they give us medical attention around here. So I'm all you got, but I'll do my best, ok?"

Leo watched Bernard as Les began to tend to him with - he'd admit it - a little jealousy. He sat down against the tent side, just looking at the mark on Bernard's side. Man, they'd gotten much, much worse marks on them just from being in this circus. Mistakes...the occasional escape attempt...He shook his head, just watched them. "Your booboo hurt, Berny?" he mocked, smiling a little to himself.

"Okay," he replied, still looking like a cherry. He could feel his ears burning. I must look ridiculous right now! He was sure that Leo was laughing inside as well. "Do whatever you have to then. And you shut up, Leo!" he pulled the bottom lid of his left eye down with his finger and stuck his tongue out at Leo, an expression that said I don't see you getting taken care of by Leslie. Outside, Anjok was still searching in the depths of his mind for something better to say and failing miserably at it. "Nothing, I guess," he replied, looking down and tracing patterns in the dirt with his finger, much like he used to do when he was a child. A bit of an awkward silence ensued, and he thought about the game that kids play when there's an awkward silence, clapping and singing to break it. Unfortunately, nothing that simple could fix the problems causing that particular silence.
